I am not certain we qualify as true scientists, but hey.
We finished the project. We’ve come up with some results and a ton of more questions.
So the seeds in compost grew the best. Worm castings and potting soil were 2nd and 3rd respectively. However neither of the runners up were spectacular at all.
There were so many questions and possible solutions that I would like to do this exact experiment earlier in the year so they can examine the results more.
One thing we’d like to be able to to do is do some analysis of soil. Both the space seeds and the regular seeds grew well in the compost. However, both seeds were different. So we suspect that something in our compost mix helped the seeds sprout better.
Of course I am learning the whole worm composting process, so I could have skewed the results there. The potting soil was pitiful when I bought it. So next time it’s a high quality mix indeed.
We had a great time. Now come on Summer!
