make every effort to supplement your faith There is a partical, lived out part to the Chrisitans life. It’s not just a self reflection or navel gazing. We build on the foundation of our faith.

8 For if these qualities[f] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. The more we grow in these qualities the more we see and expeirnce a useful life in Christ. Note also that knowledge is again highlighted. Our faith is not only a emotional one, but it is a faith based on knowledge and truth.
